Here are some pictures of our Aquaponic Tomato Growth Rate
As you can see above the growth rate with a properly cycled Aquaponic system is amazing to say the least. The first picture was a tiny seedling with the first true set of leaves forming. 4 weeks later this plant was over 12" tall and starting to get its first blooms.
I am also growing Cucumbers, Celery, Lettuce & Broccoli.
I experimented with strawberry plants & they did not like having wet feet & started to die off within 24 hours. Also tried Spinach & while it is growing it does not have the same growth rate as plants I planted it soil at the same time. They will be getting transplanted out of the aquaponic system.
You can grow lettuce from seed to harvest size in 45 days with a well managed Aquaponic system. I will be posting up pictures of my custom made lettuce grow system as an add on to my Aquaponic System very soon.
My system is a 800 gallon closed loop system that currently has 10 Nile Tilapia providing the nutrients for the grow bed. this system is inside a 10' x 12" Greenhouse that is unheated & has 4 manual roof vents. I will be adding auto vents soon & a fan for air circulation.
